Last weekend at WatchTime New York 2019, we got to catch up with Ron Stoll, head of the brand in America, to discuss the newest Heritage Bi-Compax Annual that we went hands-on with a few months ago. You can read the entire story of the watch and its technical specifications here — and you can see the video below.
Retro Revisited
In a quick recap of the newest two versions of the Heritage Bi-Compax Annual watch, it is based on a timepiece made during the 1950’s. It was a chronograph with curved lines and a 34mm case that was immediately appealing thanks to the ergonomics and look. Now, the brand re-introduces that vintage watch in the form of an automatic with chronograph (minutes and seconds counters), annual calendar, grand date and, of course, hour, minutes and small seconds.
Two versions are being offered: one in all stainless steel with panda dial and retailing for $7200; and one in stainless steel and rose gold retailing for $11,000. The new watches are updated in specific ways. To begin with the case is 41mm in diameter instead of the original 34mm. Additionally, to be up to the minute, each watch features a double domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. There is also a sapphire crystal casebook for viewing of the automatic movement. Each watch his water resistant to 30 meters. Dials are rose-and-champagne in color, or silver. Straps are either calfskin in cognac brown or embossed rubber in black. Personally, I love the bi-color metal version with calfskin strap … it is a surefire winner. But the Panda is a great second choice.
