Jaeger-LeCoultre has been crafting timepieces in its beloved Master Control collection for decades – in fact, since the mid-20th century. Regularly evolving the highly functional watch, the brand has endowed it with different functions and features time after time. Recently, Jaeger-LeCoultre released the newest Master Control Chronograph Calendar in pink gold with dramatic black dial.
Crafted in 18-karat pink gold with a black dial and rich gold accents, the new watch offers a harmonious layout and is a deft blend of classic yet contemporary. The black sunray-brushed dial, surrounded by a traditional red-accented pulsometric scale, exudes an air of refined simplicity. Yet it is anything but simple.
The Master Control Chronograph Calendar effectively balances the complexity of its complications within an intuitive and timeless layout. The dial, in addition to the pulsometer, integrates a complete calendar (day, date, moon and moonphase indication) and a bi-compax chronograph with central seconds hand and 30-minute totalizer.
The watch is powered by the brand’s automatic caliber 759, made in house, and offering 65 hours of power reserve and boasts a column-wheel chronograph mechanism with vertical clutch. The meticulously executed movement finishing, including Côtes de Genève and blued screws, is a testament to the brand’s commitment to excellence. The movement, including the iconic gold rotor bearing the JL motif, is visible via a transparent sapphire case back.
The watch measures 40mm in diameter and features an outward-sloping bezel and curved lugs. The interplay between polished and satin-brushed surfaces showcases the attention to detail. Rectangular chronograph pushers contribute a contemporary touch to the classic design, while the 12.05mm case thickness provides a balanced presence on the wrist. It is finished with a black alligator strap. In all, it is a sophisticated, highly functional addition to the Master Control line. The retail price is a step up from the 2020 Master Control watches but is the same as the current silver dial gold version at $32,500.
