This January, BOVET1822 once again wowed us with the brand’s technical and aesthetic prowess. Three incredible new watches were unveiled to the world, and we are at a loss as to designate which is the most prized, as each is worthy of the collector’s full attention.
The incredibly complicated Bovet Recital 18 Shooting Star Tourbillon GMT portrays hemispheric universal time with a selectable time zone and an ultra-compact 24 cities indicator. A cartographer was specially commissioned to design this atypical 3D map of the globe, which simultaneously displays the exact time anywhere in the world by means of BOVET’s proprietary time zone hand. The unique perspective of the Shooting Star also pairs universal time with a complementary moon phase indicator, jumping hours and retrograde minutes.
On the “sportier” side, the Ottantasei flying Tourbillon introduces new technical innovations and stylistic changes to the BOVET by Pininfarina collection. This 10-day hand-wound movement was designed to create maximum light, surrounded on all 4 sides with sapphire crystal, the case allows for superb views of the movement. The heart of the transparent movement reveals a patented double-sided tourbillon and a concentric power-reserve indicator.
For women, the brand also never fails to delight. The newest revamp of a classic Lady BOVET, the Amadeo® Fleurier Flower of Life features a hand-wound Virtuoso II caliber movement with seven days of autonomy in a reversible case. The timepiece features a power-reserve, an off-centered dial at 12 o’clock, which houses the hours and minutes, and a second’s carriage located at 6 o’clock. A quick, easy maneuver enables the timepiece to be worn on the reverse, revealing and entirely different face. This dial displays the hours and minutes and features a hand-gilded ‘flower of life’ motif either engraved on mother-of-pearl or rendered in grand feu enamel.
