IWC lovers take note: the sophisticated new rose gold Portofino Chronographs have arrived in stores! Just a few days ago, I had the chance to try on these watches and take a close-up look at them in the New York Madison Avenue IWC Boutique and I love them and think you will, too.
Sleek, sophisticated and offering sporty elegance, the new 18-karat gold pieces are inspired by the picturesque fishing village of Portofino. Joining the already strong Portofino Chronograph collection, the new 41mm versions are offered with either a slate gray dial or white dial. Red accents discreetly placed on the hour and minute subdials are a nod to the sporty side. The pushbuttons are reminiscent of the dashboard instruments of 1960’s Italian sports cars. The dial is resolutely clean, with applied markers (and Roman numerals at 12:00 and 6:00). The watch is powered by the automatic 75320 caliber with 44 hours of power reserve. It offers day, date, stopwatch function with hours, minutes and seconds, and a small hacking seconds.
The back of the watch is meticulously engraved with a scene of the village of Portofino — so one can take in the beauty of the sunny fishing village year ‘round. Best of all, the watch retails for a cool $14,900 – in solid 18-karat rose gold.
