Ok Guys – I know you are thinking – “Oh no, a woman’s watch – smack in the middle of SIHH.” But this one is quite inventive and besides, women are the hot ticket this year –as more and more brands recognize the savvy woman watch consumer and release collections geared for them. So – guys – just read on – you’ll find some technical innovation herein and so you can just grin and bear it. Women- this one is for you!
The Piaget Limelight Blooming Rose is the latest creation from Piaget – a brand with high jewelry savoir-faire and a penchant for roses that stems back to Yves Piaget’s own love of roses and the creation of the Piaget rose – yes an actual rose. (And if you are lucky enough – like me—to hear Yves wax eloquent on the color, scent and cultivation of his rose, your appreciation grows exponentially.) Since then, the rose as a symbol of the brand has been reinterpreted in many collections – but perhaps none so technically advanced as this.
The Limelight Blooming rose – at first glance – has just four stunning diamond-adorned petals. Those petals, however, unfurl in a decorative motive of complexity much like a rose itself. From barely open 4-petal rosebud to enchanting 8 petals, the flower watch blooms with the turn of the case. All the ingenuity of the Piaget artisans was put to the test in devising this stunning “live” blooming of a splendid jewelry rose. The upper case of the watch swivels 45° on demand thanks to an invisible mechanism mysteriously orchestrated by Piaget. (The concept follows the brand’s previous idea put to work in the previously released Limelight Magic Hour watch with rotating case.) The petals of the Limelight Blooming Rose watch are composed of 18-karat white gold with approximately 260 brilliant-cut grain-set diamonds weighing 2.5 carats. It is powered by a Piaget 56P movement. This is one very alluring rose.
Love watches:)
