With a mission to create unique writing instruments for the world, Edelberg, the Swiss luxury pen and accessory manufacturer, unveils its sleek new creation. The pen, aptly named ‘To be or not to be’ draws inspiration from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, featuring an individually, hand-painted melting human skull. This symbolic design is meant to encourage one to reflect on life’s impermanence, underlining the fact that in our hands we hold the ultimate communication tool. With this powerful tool, we have the ability to immortalize our ideas far beyond life’s boundaries. This concept, which resides in many creative minds, signifies a way of living on through writing or art. In addition to the deep thought put behind the aesthetic, the construction of the pen was also highly developed.
Each pen clip detracts with the push of a button, so when not in use, men may put the clip onto their shirt pocket, but when needed the clip does not interfere with the ergonomics of the pen. This carbon fiber writing instrument is based on the iconic sloop ballpoint pen design, and is created in a limited edition of just 88 pieces worldwide. Amazingly, each and every one is hand painted. The unique clip, cap, and base of the pen are all stainless steel, featuring Edelberg’s trademark SuperLuminova treatment on the cap. This pen is sleek, alluring and a real deal at $1,490 retail.
