If you were hoping to find the prefect vintage-inspired, technically advance and aesthetically beautiful watch during SIHH 2019, you are in luck. This year, as Montblanc further underscores its rich history with Minerva, the Villeret-based brand it owns, the brand focuses clearly on vintage aspirations. In fact, Montblanc combed the Minerva archives from the 1940’s and 1950’s until it landed on a host of timepieces that inspired the brand’s watchmakers and designers to re-interpret …. magnificently. Easily, the piece that is the collector’s dream is the new Montblanc Heritage Pulsograph and here we go hands on with this beauty.
For this watch, Montblanc has adopted a host of design codes from the mid-Twentieth century, such as domed dials, two-zone dials, dot and numeral indications, exquisite use of color and more. The Montblanc Heritage Pulsograph, for instance, features one of the most alluring two-zone salmon-hued dials on the market. Built in a limited edition of 100 pieces the 40mm stainless steel doctor’s watch features a pulsometer for measuring heart rates. The Puslograph is graduated for 30 pulsations. Additionally, the watch is a monopusher chronograph.
It is powered by the Montblanc Manufacture Monopusher Chronograph caliber MB M13.21 with column-wheel chronograph (that was originally inspired by thei Minerva 13.20 chronograph caliber from the 1920’s). The dial features applied Arabic numerals, as well as dots for the indexes. The Dauphine shaped hour and minute hands are curved to match the shape of the dial and are filled with SuperLumiNova for easy reading. Each watch undergoes Montblanc’s Test 500 I500 hours of testing) and is certified as having passed the criteria. The watch, which retails for Euro 28,000, is water resistant to 5 bars.
