Seiko — the Japanese brand that makes top-notch affordable watches — unveils its newest theme for it beloved Prospex Street Series of watches: Urban Safari. While the Japanese home brand releases four new watches, the USA is picking up the two solar-powered Chronograph Calendar watches. The new series takes its design inspiration from the brand’s 1975 Professional Diver’s watch and the 1982 Hybrid Diver’s watch.
The two new watches coming to the USA are both solar powered — housing the brand’s Hybrid analog and digital movement, the caliber H851. The large 47.8mm watch is crafted in stainless steel and plastic with a unidirectional rotating bezel. Its crystal is made of Hardlex mineral and the hands, indexes and dive bezel are coated with Lumibrite for easy underwater reading. The watches features silicone straps in safari colors and are water resistant to 200 meters. Among their functions: a full automatic calendar that is correct until December 31, 2100; an alarm; and LED digital indication. Best of all, these watches retail for $550.

“It’s crystal is made of Hardly…”
Come on how do you really feel about mineral crystal.
Thanks for pointing out that error — Hardlex — spellcheck changed it to hardly… at any rate when we are talking affordable watches, mineral crystal has its attributes. Most important is pricing.
