Known for its aviation and dive-inspired watches, German brand Tutima Glashütte offers one of the best quality/value propositions on the market. Now, the brand does it again with its newest M2 Seven Seas S series of watches with boldly colored gradient (or de’grade’) dials with distinctive highlights.
Crafted in stainless steel (hence, the “S”), the series of watches are offered on straps that are either black or color-coordinated with the dial, or on stainless steel bracelets that are at once powerful looking yet comfortable to wear. Dial colors include green fading to darker almost forest black hues at the outer edges, bright yellow fading to green at the outer edges (my personal favorite), or wine red fading to burgundy/black. The hands and markers on the dials are all coated with a Super-LumiNova material for easy reading in the dark.
As if the dials weren’t enough to suck you in, the straps are equally as impressive, as they are made of rubber infused with leather. The stitching on the straps coordinates with the dials for added detail. After all, the details are what really finish the look. Alternatively, wearers can opt to buy the M2 Seven Seas S watches with a brushed stainless steel interlinking bracelet. Even the nicely notched unidirectional rotating bezel features a matte/brushed finish.
The M2 Seven Seas S watches, though, go beyond just great looks. The 43mm cases are designed to withstand 50 atm of pressure – meaning that they are water resistant to an incredible 500 meters. The case back and the crown are both threaded to ensure protection from water, and the crown is further reinforced with lateral flanks to protect against impacts. Even the antireflective sapphire crystal has a hardness of nine Mohs on the hardness scale thanks to its 3mm thickness. (A diamond is a 10 on the Mohs scale.)
The watch is powered by the Caliber Tutima 330 that offers 38 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Tutima’s M2 Seven Seas S watches retail for $1,900 on strap and $2,300 on bracelet – reinforcing what I said earlier: this is one of the best quality/value tool watches on the market.
