As a pre-Baselworld peek, Chopard unveils the L.U.C XPS Twist QF watch — a timepiece that offers a bit of a spin to horology. Classically elegant and s magnificent statement in modern classics, the L.U.C XPS Twist QF features a rich satin-finished blue dial with seconds sundial at 7 o’clock and crown at 4 o’clock. The watch is crafted in ethically certified “Fairmined” white gold. Fairmined gold is traceable and sourced to small artisanal mines where the mining is controlled to treat miners fairly and correctly, and where Chopard gives back to the environment in a host of ways. by paying premium to be reinvested in community projects. Since July 2018, the Maison has been using 100% Ethical gold for the production of all its watches and jewellery.
With just 250 pieces being made, this is a watch that offers a slim fit on the wrist and and a huge impact on others. The QF in the name stands for the Quality Fleurier certification that the brand receives from the Fleurier Quality Foundation in Switzerland.The certification for Quality Fleurier standards from the Fleurier Quality Foundation involves passing five tests that revolve around precision to COSC sanders, durability, reliability and more. Each watch spends at least 24 hours on the Fleuritest simulator to emulate actual wear. Additionally, the watch must be finely finished according both the Haute Horlogerie standards and must be manufactured 100 percent in Switzerland. With chronometer certification, the watch is something anyone can be proud to wear and tell them Fairmined, superlative craftsmanship story.
The watch is powered by the Calibre 96.26-L, which is a variation on Calibre 96.01-L offset by 30 degrees. Like the original movement, it is distinguished by its slim 3.3 mm size, which yields a thin finished, cased watch. The self-winding mechanism features an engraved 22-carat gold micro-rotor and has two stacked barrels (based on Chopard’s patented Twin structure) that guarantee 65 hours of power reserve. This is an exceptional feat for an ultra-thin watch. The L.U.C XPS Twist QF is the only model in the L.U.C collection that features markers instead of Arabic numerals.It will retail for approximately $20,000.
