It was just last year that Ralph Lauren surprised everyone with its newest Polo Player watch — one with horse and polo player front and center on the dial. Now, the brand expands the series with a white lacquer dial and new colors for bezel that range from green to navy blue and brown. They also boast interchangeable straps, and the rubber strap is engraved with the “Polo” lettering in color coordinated hues.
Retailing for $1,750, the 42mm watches are crafted in stainless steel and house a Swiss automatic Sellita movement with 26 jewels. It offers 38 hours of power reserve. The bezel on each watch is created of eloxed aluminum for light weight and bold color. The Arabic numerals and the hands are coated with Super-LumiNova for easy reading in the dark. The white lacquer dials showcase the polo player and horse in all its beauty. A transparent sapphire case back allows for viewing of the movement.
The iconic Polo player has graced Ralph Lauren clothing since the 1970’s and is a legendary symbol of elegance and quality.
Wow. For a company that has always been so successful with good design, this range will be the exception, in my opinion.
I think it is a “love” or “hate” type of piece.
