In its ongoing collaboration with Aston Martin, Girard-Perregaux brings another special interpretation of the well-known Laureato – marking the first time the watch will be crafted with Aston Martin Racing green ceramic case and bracelet.
The first Girard-Perregaux Laureato watches were introduced in 1975 and featured an octagon-shaped bezel on an angled tonneau-shaped case. That look has remained steadfast over the years, in all evolutions and the new Girard-Perregaux Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition is no exception.
The fact that the watch and the entire bracelet is made of ceramic – comprised of zirconium oxide and other metallic oxides – makes the timepiece extremely light weight. Because the brand uses micro-bead powder, the craftspeople at Girard-Perregaux are able to finish the surfaces with both satin and high-polished looks. Additionally, the ceramic is seven times harder than steel so it is incredibly scratch resistant and, at the same time, hypoallergenic.
Being created in two sizes, 42mm and 38mm, the watch boasts many accents inspired by the Aston Martin. To begin with, the rich green dial features a crosshatch design, a diamond-like pattern found on the ‘AM’ logo (1921-1926) and on the quilted leather seats in some of Aston Martin’s high-performance vehicles. Additionally, just like the engines of the Aston Martin cars are powerful and precise, so too are the movements inside the new watch.
The 42mm model is fitted with the Calibre GP01800 with 46 hours of power reserve, while the 38mm version is equipped with the Calibre GP03300 with 54 hours of power reserve. Both in-house movements are self-winding and meticulously finished with mirror-polishing, snailing, sunray and other finishes including Cotes de Geneve lines. The movements can be admired though a see-through case-back, personalized with the Aston Martin logo.
The Laureato 38mm Green Ceramic Aston Martin edition is created in just 188 pieces, each selling for $25,000. The 42mm version will have 388 pieces made, each selling for $25,800.
