Mondaine Unveils Cushion Collection At Couture: A Modern Take On Classic

Swiss watch brand Mondaine, known for its creation of watches and clocks using the licensed design of the SBB Swiss railway station clocks, makes a bold design move forward. In addition to its round watches, the brand just unveiled at the recent Couture Show, its Cushion Collection – and this is a winner. The cushion-cornered case with round dials offers the circle-within-an-almost-square design motif that has long been loved in the watch world.

This new collection features watches in two sizes, 31mm and 41mm, inspired by the design of Swiss railway stations, and showcasing the iconic red second hand. The larger size, the Grand Cushion,  also includes a chronograph function while still maintaining a clean and simple aesthetic. The Petit Cushion is a simple three-hand watch with great dial color options.

The Cushion Collection pays tribute to the brand’s history and heritage with its vintage-inspired cushion shape, making it a distinctive addition to the brand’s lineup. Its versatility allows for seamless transitions between casual, elegant, and sporty looks, making it a timeless choice for any occasion. The watches boast a double-domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating that ensures a clear view of the dial while providing durability and scratch resistance.

Mondaine Grand Cushion

The Grand Cushion, the larger size in the collection with a 41mm stainless steel case, offers enhanced functionality. It features a seamlessly integrated date display and chronograph, allowing wearers to track the date and measure elapsed time with precision while maintaining the collection’s minimalistic design.

The Grand Cushion is available in three dial colors: white, deep ocean blue, and forest green. The classic white dial is paired with a black strap made from vegan grape leather. The deep ocean blue and forest green dials come with textile straps made from recycled plastic bottles, matching the respective dial colors. The Grand Cushion watches are also sold with a Milanese mesh stainless steel bracelet that is easily interchangeable without tools. These models also feature Super-LumiNova® white hands, ensuring legibility in the dark.  They retail for $595.

Mondaine Petit Cushion

The Petit Cushion features a perfect 31mm size that elegantly fits smaller wrists. Its polished stainless-steel case is accompanied by a white dial and is available with three distinct strap options: black vegan grape leather, red vegan grape leather, and a high-quality Milanese mesh stainless steel strap. Mondaine’s vegan grape leather is crafted from the organic waste of wine production, using a grape consistency that consists of stems, seeds, and skins. This innovative approach to leather production represents genuine upcycling, aligning with the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Petite Cushion retails for between $375 and $395.
