The Monaco line, originally launched in 1969, has always been a bold statement, with its square-cased chronograph housing the revolutionary Calibre 11 movement and celebrating the glamour and adrenaline of motorsport. The new Racing Green edition carries on this tradition, paying tribute to the iconic liveries of British racing cars.

The Monaco has long been tied to racing culture, with its origins linked to Formula 1 and its close association with Hollywood star Steve McQueen, who famously wore a Heuer Monaco in the 1971 film Le Mans. Over the years, the Monaco has evolved while keeping its essence intact, featuring innovative materials and design elements that honor TAG Heuer’s avant-garde spirit. The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green follows the Monaco Chronograph Racing Blue, introduced in 2023, furthering the collection’s tribute to motorsport’s storied heritage.

This latest edition draws inspiration from British Racing Green, a color synonymous with British motorsport. First seen on the Napier 50 in the 1902 Gordon Bennett Cup, this shade has become iconic, representing the prestige and success of British racing teams over the decades. The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green mirrors this history with a silver sunray-brushed dial, reminiscent of early 20th-century racing dashboards. The green subdials echo the famous hue, while yellow accents on the 12 o’clock baton marker and chronograph hand pay homage to the detailing seen on classic British race cars.

Technically, the watch is powered by the automatic Calibre 11, a nod to the groundbreaking movement that debuted with the Monaco in 1969. The timepiece features a 39mm grade-2 titanium case, both robust and lightweight, providing durability with a sporty feel. The sapphire crystal caseback offers a view of the movement, enhancing the watch’s appeal to collectors. The dial is adorned with polished silver indices and hands coated with Super-LumiNova® for optimal legibility, complemented by a perforated green calfskin strap secured with a titanium folding clasp. Water-resistant to 100 meters, this chronograph is as functional as it is stylish.
