Joining forces, TAG Heuer and Porsche release the new Carrera Chronograph Orange Racing watch with bold orange accents as a nod to the racing world. This is the sixth timepiece to make its debu since this dynamic duo formed its partnership in February 2021. It is also perfect timing, since TAG Heuer celebrates 60 years of the Carrera watch this year.
With a bold orange and black color scheme, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph X Porsche Orange Racing watch measures 44mm in diameter and is crafted in black Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) stainless steel. It houses the caliber Heuer 02 high performance movement made entirely in house at the TAG Heuer Chevenez facility. The movement consist of 168 components including a column wheel and vertical clutch and offers 80 hours of power reserve. The custom designed oscillating weight that pays tribute to the Porsche steering wheel is visible via a transparent sapphire case back.
Also important on a racing-inspired watch, the timepiece features a black ceramic tachymeter bezel for measuring speed or distance. Thanks to the anti-reflective treatment on the domed sapphire crystal, there is no glare on the dial when the sun is beating down on the racetrack. The watch is finished with a textured black calfskin strap with orange lining and stitching. The stitching recalls the stitching on the upholstery of the cars. The chronograph watch measures hours, minutes, and seconds.
TAG Heuer and Porsche have a long past in the racing world, and both share the Carrera name. In fact, in 1963, Jack Heuer named the watch after the Carrera Panamericana legendary race — one of the most dangerous in the world. Similarly, when Porsche won its first class victory at the Carrera Panamericana race in 1954, it named its most powerful model in its honor.
