When you hear the words “golden watch,” you pretty much think the timepiece is going to be crafted in gold. However, with the newest Bell & Ross BR 05 Skeleton Golden watch that isn’t the case at all. Crafted in stainless steel, this super cool skeletonized watch boasts a golden-hued sapphire crystal with golden outer dial flange and gold-outlined Super-LumiNova hands and markers. The overall effect is superb because the golden hued crystal makes all of the skeletonized movement parts below look like they are a mono-chromatic scheme of gold and taupe.
An architectural beauty, the 40mm skeleton watch follows previous successes like the Skeleton Blue in 2020, the NightLum in 2021 and the Skeleton Green in 2022. This version is all about playing with light and depth. The large numerals and baton-shaped golden indexes draw the eye to the outer galvanized flange and accents the concept of gold hues and contrasting tones. The movement inside, the self-winding Caliber BR-CAL.322, features the plate and upper bridge built of micro-blasted ruthenium and the components have a linear, almost geometric finish.
The watch, with round dial inside cushion-cornered square case, features a satin-brushed steel bezel that is fixed into place with four polished steel slotted screws. This ensures water resistance up to 100 meters. The caseback is fitted with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal allowing the movement and rotor to be viewed by the wearer. While the watch has a strong presence on the wrist, it measures just 5.45mm thick for a great fit and feel.
Making the watch even more refined looking is the fact that the central link of the bracelet is integrated into the case for a true urban chic look and ergonomic appeal.. Plus, this design has been a reference for the brand since the 1970’s. The watch is being sold with either a stainless steel bracelet with alternating polished and satin-brushed finishes or with a rubber strap in a golden brown hue that coordinates nicely with the dial. The watch is water resistant t o100 meters. It retails for $6,600 on strap and for $7,100 on bracelet. However, since the watch straps are interchangeable, the straps can be purchased separately: $435 for the rubber strap with folding buckle and $960 for the steel bracelet. Why settle for just one option? Just 500 pieces will be made.
