Bell & Ross pushes boundaries in watchmaking, while maintaining a commitment to technical excellence, on a regular basis. The newest addition to its collection, the BR 05 Artline Dragon, is a perfect example — infusing elements inspired by Chinese astrology and the mythical dragon with the tattoo artist’s dream. It is so intricate to create that just 99 pieces will be made.
As 2024 heralds the Year of the Dragon in Chinese astrology, Bell & Ross embraces the characteristics associated with this powerful symbol. Those born under the Dragon are said to possess qualities such as activity, strong will, confidence, enterprising spirit, and luck. The BR 05 Artline Dragon channels these attributes through exclusive laser engraving, reminiscent of a tattoo, creating a unique and bold personality for the timepiece.
While Bell & Ross has earned acclaim for its efficient instrument watches designed for professionals, the BR 05 Artline takes a departure by allowing for a freer range of artistic expression. The BR 05 Artline Dragon adopts graphic codes inspired by the art of tattooing – essentially creating a metal tattoo on the watch that plays with light and shadow.
The BR 05 Artline Dragon’s motif features the dragon’s head in the center of the dial and then it incorporates symbolic natural elements such as the sun, moon, and references to flora and fauna, including a swallow motif, onto the case and bracelet. A strong collaboration between graphic designers and watchmakers ensures a harmonious motif across the entire BR 05 Artline Dragon watch. The exceptional laser engraving technique used for the dial, case and bracelet requires perfect precision to ensure the continuity of design.
Since its launch in 2019, the BR 05 line has been synonymous with urban watches that embody contemporary elegance. The new 40mm BR 05 Artline Dragon continues this legacy. It is powered by the BR-CAL.321 self-winding mechanical movement, boasting 54 hours of power reserve. A screw down crown and engraved crown guard ensure 100 meters of water resistance. The watch features a transparent sapphire caseback – allowing for viewing of the oscillating weight. The watch retails for $7,900.
