Independent Swiss brand Armin Strom proudly presents the One Week Manufacture Edition. This limited series of 100 pieces celebrates the company’s rich legacy and innovative spirit. The new model, housed in a sleek 41mm steel case with an integrated bracelet, revisits and reimagines Armin Strom’s first-ever caliber from 2010 — marking 15 years of the brand’s integrated manufacture.
In 2009, Armin Strom embarked on a journey to master every step of the watchmaking process by establishing its manufacture in Biel. The following year, the brand unveiled the One Week, a timepiece that showcased their unique movement architecture and boasted a seven-day power reserve, thanks to its two barrels. This milestone solidified Armin Strom’s reputation for mechanical ingenuity and design excellence.
Fast forward to 2024, and Armin Strom continues to push the boundaries with the One Week Manufacture Edition. The new model features a manual caliber that embodies the brand’s recent architectural and three-dimensional approach. The mainplate, bridges, and parts are coated in PVD anthracite, giving the watch a striking, modern aesthetic that highlights its mechanical beauty. What’s more, the watch is endowed with seven days of autonomy and boasts a unique cone-shaped power reserve indicator.
Armin Strom Mechanical Artistry and Innovation
The One Week is renowned for its open-worked design, which showcases the movement’s kinetic elements on the dial side—a signature feature of Armin Strom timepieces. This new edition has been entirely reengineered, resulting in a movement with stunning architectural depth. Form, function, aesthetics, and ergonomics harmoniously converge, creating a dynamic and radical interpretation of traditional horology.
The 194-part ARM21 caliber, with its two mainspring barrels, provides a seven-day power reserve. These barrels are symmetrically arranged on the right side of the open dial, held by two finger-style bridges. The manual winding mechanism is a visual delight, with two ratchet wheels winding the barrels in opposite directions, visible from the dial side. Inspired by pocket watches, the conical power reserve indication feature uses a mirror-polished cone driven by a conical gear, enhancing the movement’s architectural depth.
To ensure optimal performance, the oscillating frequency of the regulating organ has been increased from 2.5 Hz to 3.5 Hz (25,200 vph), compared to the original One Week from 2010. This adjustment improves the chronometric performance, requiring a complete recalibration of the gear train by Armin Strom’s engineers.
Armin Strom Layers of Depth and Craftsmanship
The One Week Manufacture Edition stands out with its faceted hour and minute hands filled with Super-LumiNova, perfectly positioned in the center of the open dial for enhanced aesthetic balance. Unlike its predecessor, which had a partially open dial, this new version adopts a fully three-dimensional architecture, allowing exploration from various angles.
The watch’s craftsmanship is evident in every detail, from the chamfered and polished bevels to the Geneva-striped plates and polished screws. The anthracite PVD-coated mainplate and bridges offer a monochromatic look that complements the steel case.
The manual winding One Week Manufacture Edition is limited to 100 pieces and is available directly from Armin Strom and its authorized retailers worldwide. Priced at $33,600, this timepiece is a testament to Armin Strom’s dedication to haute horlogerie.
