Continuing its motto of cutting-edge watchmaking, Kross Studio introduces the KS 06 collection, featuring the brand’s iconic central floating tourbillon, now encased in a newly designed 42mm case. Building on the success of the KS 05 collection from 2023, this latest release exemplifies the Swiss manufacture’s dedication to innovation and craftsmanship, seamlessly blending traditional aesthetics with advanced horological engineering.
The KS 06 collection represents a refined evolution in Kross Studio’s design philosophy, encapsulating a classic yet modern appeal. The 42mm case is crafted from grade 5 titanium, a material prized for its strength and lightweight properties. The case’s round shape and integrated lugs create a cohesive and comfortable fit on the wrist, while the polished and satin-finished surfaces reflect the meticulous attention to detail that defines Kross Studio’s creations.
The case design achieves a minimalist yet sophisticated look by eliminating the traditional 3:00 crown, resulting in a flawless symmetrical profile. Instead, the crown is ingeniously centered on the back of the case, enhancing both comfort and the watch’s aesthetic balance.
One of the most striking features of the KS 06 watch is its crystal dome, crafted from oversized sapphire glass. This dome not only protects the movement but also provides an unparalleled view of the central floating tourbillon, a hallmark of Kross Studio’s design. The crystal is treated with anti-reflective, anti-UV, and anti-static coatings, making it virtually invisible to the eye and allowing the intricate mechanics within to take center stage.
At the heart of the KS 06 watch lies the KS 7’006 movement, a central floating tourbillon caliber developed entirely in-house by Kross Studio. Comprising 220 components, including 27 jewels, this manual-winding movement is a testament to the brand’s expertise. The concentric and co-axial architecture allows for efficient energy transmission, resulting in a remarkable 120-hour power reserve.
The tourbillon, positioned above the movement and hands, is a patented innovation that showcases the complex mechanics of the watch without obstruction. The hour display is driven by a planetary gear system mounted on ball bearings, further enhancing the movement’s precision and clarity.
Additionally, the KS 7’006 movement’s barrel bridge has been redesigned to accommodate the new 42mm case. Thanks to the oversized crystal case back, the barrel bridge now features an expanded diameter, allowing for intricate decorative finishes. Hand-beveled angles, pearl-shaped recesses, and côtes de Genève adorn the bridge, highlighting Kross Studio’s commitment to traditional watchmaking craftsmanship.
Kross Studio’s engineers have reimagined the traditional winding system, positioning the crown at the center of the case back. This innovative design allows for easy winding and time-setting by simply rotating the crown with a finger. The challenge of maintaining the watch’s water resistance while incorporating this novel feature was met by using nearly ten seals, far exceeding the typical one or two seals found in standard watch cases.
The dial of the KS 06 watch is a two-part masterpiece, with an opal sandblasted flange and a grained hour wheel available in five vibrant colors: blue, black, gold, green, and purple. The rhodium-plated hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova®, ensuring legibility in any lighting condition.
The KS 06 collection introduces a patent-pending interchangeable strap system that is as practical as it is innovative. Located on the inner side of the lugs, this system allows for quick and easy strap changes without the need for tools or intricate adjustments. The strap simply slides into place along a specially designed groove, ensuring a secure and hassle-free fit. Additionally, the KS 06 watches are compatible with any standard 20mm strap, offering endless customization possibilities.
With only 10 pieces available for each of the five initial versions, the KS 06 watches are set to become highly coveted additions to any collector’s portfolio. Priced starting at 68,000 CHF.
