It’s around the corner — the Chinese New Year begins on January 28, 2017, and rings in the year of the rooster. In celebration, certain watch brands unveil timepieces dedicated to this 10th sign of the Chinese zodiac. Jaquet Droz is one such brand and this morning the company released its newest renditions — two dial versions and four final choices of the limited edition Year of the Rooster Petite Heure Minute watch.
Jaquet Droz Petite-Heure Chinese Fire Rooster
There are two distinct dials for this year’s Jaquet Droz Year of the Rooster watches: one painted, one sculpted.
As in the past, Jaquet Droz unveiled a superb tribute to the Chinese zodiac — with several renditions perfect for men or women and showcasing the brand’s technical prowess and artistic craftsmanship.There are two distinct dial options being offered, with one dial in two colors and the second dial in two case choice. Each depiction of the Jaquet Droz Petite-Heure Chinese Fire Rooster is created in a limited edition of just 28 pieces and each utlizes Grand Feu enamel work.
One 39mm version features a sculpted rooster in 18-karat rose gold standing in the bottom center of the dial, with a background of Grand Feu enamel work, and surrounded by a background of smoky gray, black and white with peony flowers. The majestically carved rooster is in its calling position, beak open and feathers ruffled. There is also a second version of this dial with the sculpted rooster painted in dark blue and gold shades with the red comb. This version is set in 18-karat white gold.
The hand painting takes place in the brand’s workshops.
Then, the brand presents an entirely different Year of the Rooster daily in a fully hand-painted dial wherein the rooster is hand-painted in white with black feathers and brilliant red comb and mettle. He stands beside green grass and a few pink flowers. This dial is offered in an18-karat rose gold 39mm case, and there is also a 35mmm cased 18-karat rose gold version that is entirely set — case and lugs — with diamonds. The watches have not yet been priced.
