When it comes to ultra thin timepieces, Jaeger-LeCoutre is no stranger in the craft. We’ve brought you the news on their previous creations like the Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar and the Ultra Thin edition done with a meteorite dial. However, the Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon in white gold is well worth a close up look.
Earlier renditions have been done with a pink gold casing and even a diamond adorned case. However, the white gold edition has an added elegance to it that ensures the focus of the eye goes to the manufacture-made tourbillon escapement, which rests at six o’clock. The beauty of this watch is multi-fold. It houses an ultra-thin mechanical automatic movement Jaeger-LeCoultre Claiber 982) with 282 components — an incredible number — and yet the watch measures just 11.3mm thin — cased.
The movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and, once wound, the 33-jewel watch has 45 hours of power reserve should you take it off for any extended period of time.
Set in place to ensure the most precise measurement of time, the tourbillon complication neutralizes the negative effects of gravity that would otherwise compromise the movement’s accuracy. The rotor is mounted on ceramic ball bearings and the tourbillon escapement is crafted in grade 5 titanium — weighing in at just .33 grams.

The minimalistic appeal of the dial provides a very classic yet contemporary feel to the watch thanks to the dauphine hands and nickel-plated hour markers that contrast beautifully with the silver-toned dial for instant readability. The 40mm diameter case is so slim that it adapts masterfully to the space beneath a suit jacket or shirt — but then, who would want to hide this beauty?
It is offered with an alligator leather strap with an 18mm triple-fold clasp and has a 5 bar water resistance. The complicated Master Ultra-Thin Tourbillon in white gold sells for $71,500.
