IWC Schaffhausen just announced its groundbreaking partnership with Apple Original Films for the upcoming Formula One™ racing feature. This high-octane film is set to bring the thrilling world of Formula One™ to the big screen. The movie, simply titled F1, is directed by Joseph Kosinski, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Plan B Entertainment, and seven-time Formula OneTM world champion Lewis Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo Films. It stars Brad Pitt as a former driver making a dramatic return to the sport, alongside rising star Damson Idris as his teammate. In the film, IWC is seen as the sponsor of the fictional APX GP team.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone for IWC Schaffhausen, a brand deeply intertwined with the world of motorsport. Since becoming the Official Engineering Partner of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team in 2013, IWC has been a prominent figure in the racing community. In fact, Lewis Hamilton is a key brand ambassador for IWC. Now, this latest venture with F1 underscores IWC’s dedication to the sport, merging precision engineering with the glamorous world of Formula One™.
IWC on the Silver Screen In F1 Movie
In F1, IWC will feature prominently as a sponsor of the fictional APX GP team. The company’s branding will be visible on the front wing and Halo of the race cars, as well as on team uniforms and in the garage. Additionally, selected models from IWC’s Pilot’s Watches collection will be showcased on the wrists of various characters, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to the high-speed drama.
Notable pieces include the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 in stainless steel with a black dial, the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN in black zirconium oxide ceramic, and the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 in stainless steel with a black dial.
F1, made in collaboration with Formula One™, promises to deliver an immersive cinematic experience, with filming taking place in and around actual Grand Prix™ weekends, including the British Grand Prix™ at Silverstone. The film stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a former driver who makes a comeback to Formula One™, and Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce, his rookie teammate. The cast is further bolstered by Academy Award® nominee Kerry Condon, Academy Award® winner Javier Bardem, and Emmy Award® winner Tobias Menzies.
The screenplay, penned by Academy Award® nominee Ehren Kruger, weaves a compelling narrative of ambition, rivalry, and redemption, set against the backdrop of one of the world’s most exhilarating sports. The movie is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Plan B Entertainment, and Dawn Apollo Films. Warner Bros. Pictures will handle the global distribution, with the film set to release in theaters and IMAX in North America on 27th June 2025, and internationally from 25th June 2025.
