Zenith just went a big step further with its Defy watches by introducing a carbon version of the Defy Classic that is the first to feature an integrated carbon bracelet in the history of the brand. Zenith’s carbon bracelet is made of more than 50 different components — in crafted all carbon.
The ultra-light weight carbon fiber bracelet was no easy feat to achieve. But it was worth the time and investment the Manufacture had to put into solving the technical challenges. The new bracelet weighs just 65 grams in total — with a titanium clasp. This means that the watch weighs almost half as much as a titanium Defy Classic watch. The bracelet nicely complements the ergonomic Defy Classic case, also made of the same carbon material. The patterns in the case and bracelet are the result of the constant layering of carbon fiber and that can vary from one component to another.
The chic black dark look of the carbon fiber case and bracelet exudes a sense of futuristic architecture. To complement the look, Zenith offers an open dial with mechanical components visible via the skeletonize structure of the automatic Elite movement. Nighttime readability is a snap thanks to Super-LumiNova hands and markers.
The 41mm Zenith Defy Classic Carbon watch is powered an Elite skeletonized movement (670 SK) made completely in house and boasting silicon escape wheel and lever. It offers 48 hours os power reserve and is fitted with a transparent sapphire crystal and case back for viewing the movement. The watch is water resistant to 10 ATM.
The Defy Classic Carbon with carbon bracelet retails for $19,500 — not a bad deal for high technology. However, nearly $8,000 can be saved by purchasing the Defy Classic Carbon on rubber strap for $11,600.
