A few days ago in New York City, Ulysse Nardin opened its third USA boutique in a wonderful location at the Ritz-Carlton on Central Park West. With CEO Patrik Hoffmann in from Switzerland, and brand ambassadors Baseball legend Randy Johnson and pianist Lola Astanova there to celebrate, the brand also unveiled its USA-exclusive Schooner watch.
The Schooner chronograph – built in a limited edition of 50 pieces – is a 45.8mm stainless steel cased watch that is coated with navy blue rubber and finished with a sapphire crystal caseback for viewing the superb movement. The first three minute markers on the dial are bright orange, and the strap features a rubber coated square with an engraved schooner on it – built in the likeness of the schooner “America” that won the America’s Cup Challenge for the USA in 1851 thanks to its unique design. The watch is water resistant to 200 meters and can only be found in the Ulysse Nardin New York, Boca Raton and Aventura Mall, FL, boutiques.
Ulysse Nardin’s vice president of sales and marketing Nelson Lucero was particularly involved in the creation of this watch – the case for which had to undergo a complex process to achieve the performance-oriented rubber coating. “We strive for excellence in our invention and innovation, both of which the Schooner timepiece embodies. We are confident marine and timepiece aficionados will embrace the intricate details of the watch.”
The new boutique, opened with The Timepiece Collection retailers in New Jersey, houses more than 100 of the brand’s top timepieces, including several from the Limited Edition Boutique line such as the Boutique Freak Diavolo, the Blue Toro and the Blue Executive Dual Time. Complex watches such as the Stranger (music box watch), the Night’s Watch (created for HBO® dram Game of Thrones®) and several Jaquemarts pieces can also be found in the boutique. The décor of the store pays homage to Ulysse Nardin’s nautical history, with timepieces displayed in portholes and anchors hung on the walls.
“New York is a showcase, the window to the world, it makes sense for us to be here,” says Hoffmann, who noted that the brand opened boutiques this year in Paris, Geneva and Singapore, as well. Stay Tuned for an exclusive interview with Hoffmann.
