When a watch brand does something right, they should continue in that realm and this is precisely what German brand Tutima does when it comes to pilot watches. Every time this brand unveils a new Tutima Flieger watch, it checks all the boxes with the earmarks of a solid pilot’s watch. The same is true with the new Tutima Flieger Slate Grey. It’s monochromatic gray and black scale offers a cool yet warm and inviting look.
What we like about Tutima Flieger Slate Grey
One of the things I really like about this watch is its graduated tones of gray on black that continue from the dial to the Horween leather strap. A close-up look at that rich leather strap shows that it is gray in the center and gradiates to charcoal on the edges. It matches the dial in no uncertain terms.
The Tutima Flieger Slate Grey is crafted in stainless steel with a gradient gray dial that is lighter in the center and darkens as it reaches the outer edges. Offered with either a Horween leather strap with gradient gray to black tones, or on a stainless steel bracelet. The watch offers date indication and oversized luminous baton- shaped makers, Arabic numerals and skeletonized hands, along with contrasting bright orange seconds hand, for incredible legibility. Naturally, the sapphire crystal is treated with anti-glare coatings, adding to the easy readability.
What’s Inside the Tutima Flieger Slate Grey Pilot Watch
Water resistant to 10 ATM, the Flieger Slate Grey is powered by the brand’s automatic Caliber 330 movement with an embellished 18-karat gold seal on the rotor. The finely finished movement with 25 jewels is visible via a transparent sapphire crystal on the screwed-down case back. It offers 38 hours of power reserve. Measuring 41mm in diameter, the watch is the perfect size for any wrist and easily moves from flight to everyday wear. The date indication is displayed at 6:00 on the dial.
Tutima has been making Flieger chronographs and pilot watches since 1941 and is a leader in the field. Luckily, the brand also knows how to offer incredible quality and great value. The Flieger Slate Grey on strap retails for $1,650. On a metal bracelet, it sells for just under $2,000 – coming in at $1,990.
