TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45
In an official unveiling last night in San Francisco and today in Switzerland, TAG Heuer unveils its second TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 watch – totally officially Swiss Made and in a modular format so that buyers can customize almost any aspect of the watch to suit their needs. In total, TAG Heuer says as many as 4,000 different configurations of the Connected Modular 45 watch can be made.
The TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 is water resistant to 50 meters.
The electronic module inside the new TAG Heuer smart watch is being assembled in the brand’s workshops in La Chaux-de-Fonds so that it is distinguishable as Swiss made. The electronic timepiece, like the first Connected watch launched just over a year ago, is powered by Intel with Google Android Wear operating system. In addition to the final electronic module being made in Switzerland, so, too is the case and other watch parts just like other TAG Heuer timepieces. In this way, more than 60 percent of the manufacturing costs – a factor to be considered Swiss made – are in Switzerland.

TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 Smart Watch Features
The new TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 smart watch is a 45mm piece, offered with digital and mechanical modules that can be attached to the watch lugs so that wearers can switch between having a smart watch or a mechanical watch on their wrist.
The electronic watch head is powered by the Intel Atom processor Z34XX series (smaller and more energy efficient) and operates via Android Wear 2.0 so the watch can handle stand-alone apps when the smartphone is not nearby. Watches can be connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi and cellular networks. Additionally, the watch offers Android Pay and a host of other features. The screen has also been improved in this watch, which features a bright AMOLED display that is colorful. Additionally, the watch features the brand’s rotating command crown to scroll through menus and messages.It houses a new generation lithium battery for 24 hours of active power.
Both an electronic smart watch head and a mechanical watch head that attaches to the lugs are offered as part of the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45mm.
The mechanical watch head, the first offering (more will follow) allows wearers to select either a time and date watch powered by the Caliber 5 automatic movement, or the Caliber 02T Tourbillon Chronograph watch. Other calibers and functions will be forth coming. The watch is water resistant to 50 meters.
The TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 is also a slimmer, more compact size.
Customization of the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45
As to customizing the timepieces in addition to the watch module choice, consumers can select metal choice, straps, buckles, dials and more. In fact, TAG Heuer has established a dedicated Connected Watch Studio for the customization process. Currently 30 different dial choices are being offered with choices that range not only from colors but also to hands, functions and luminescence. The straps will be interchangeable, as well.
The new TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45mm smart watch is totally customizable.
Watches are in TAG Heuer stores starting today, and retail starting at $1,650 – but remember, it can climb up as high as $17,000 –based on the choices you make in the customizing process. It is all sold in a box set with watch modules and additional rubber strap.
