One of the last events I attended before the shut-down of New York City was the TAG Heuer launch of the brand’s newest Connected Watch. I had the chance to speak one-on-one to TAG Heuer’s Chief Strategy and Digital Officer, Frederic Arnault, about the new watch. He intimated that some new apps would be forthcoming. Today, the brand introduces the new Golf Edition watch with custom App that joins the Third Generation Connected Watch lineup. The high-tech app is packed with features that include 3D mapping, hazards distance, shot tracking, scorecards, and the new Driving Zone feature.
The Driving Zone feature on the player’s smartphone will indicate the best zone to target based on their past rounds. Each previous tee shot will be mapped out, enabling players to see how they can improve their game swing by swing. Naturally, the watch also offers the TAG Heuer Sports App to track fitness, walking, running, etc., that were introduced in the third-gen Connected watch.
The new 45mm watch is crafted in light-weight titanium so as not to interfere with a good golf game (or even a not-so-good game). It features a matte black ceramic bezel with 18 engraved and lacquered white graduations to serve as a reference at each hole. In fact, the watch is a study of golf greens, with black and green lacquer pushers that are used to record shots and distances. Each watch is finished with a perforated rubber strap with grass green stitching, but additional straps can be purchased. Sold with a leather pouch that holds four TAG Heuer golf balls and tees, the TAG Heuer Connected Golf Edition watch retails for $2,550 and is available now.
TAG Heuer Connected Golf Edition
For the Golf edition, TAG Heuer is also introducing new variations of its custom-designed mechanical or digital- inspired always-on watch faces, each with a touch of green. Designed and developed entirely in-house by an expert team led by Arnault, the TAG Heuer Golf app is built to support players who want to take their game to the next level. The dial features a touch screen, and to extend the battery life, the screen alternates between active and ambient mode– always indicating the time. The watch is fitted with a magnetic battery charger.
“The TAG Heuer Connected Golf Edition further solidifies our leadership in the luxury smartwatch segment with a one-of-a-kind timepiece thoughtfully crafted to boost the player’s game and stand out on the course. Playing with a TAG Heuer Connected is a true game-changer that will give any golfer an immediate competitive edge,” explains Frédéric Arnault.
