Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black line
Recently in New York at The Glasshouses, Omega unveiled its newest Seamaster Planet Ocean watches: the ‘Deep Black.’ The new Deep Black line consists of four ceramic GMT/diver watches. The four variants include an all-black piece, a red, a blue color and a black model with gold accents. At the event, Omega set the stage for the line by taking guests through an underwater presentation that traveled deep beneath the oceans surface for the reveal of the ‘Deep Black’ collection. The star studded event played host to select VIPs and friends of the brand such as former New York football Giant Amani Toomer, Giant punter Steve Weatherford, TV personality AJ Calloway, and DJ Brendan Fallis.
On hand to present the latest launch was Omega President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann, who spoke about the brand’s continued commitment to innovation and technology. As far the technology used in the latest release, the dive watches feature Omega’s latest, Master Chronometer Certification, ceramics, rubber, LiquidMetal(R), Sedna(TM) gold and Omega Ceragold™.
The watches are COSC-certified chronometers and utilize a host of high-tech materials.
The case of each 45.5mm watch begins with a single block of ceramic. The same ceramic is also used to craft the dial of the piece, which also play host to the GMT ring. For the hands, Omega uses 18k Sedna or 18k white gold, coated in Super-Luminiva. The hands, once charged, will glow a stunning green and blue in the dark. Each watch is powered by the workhorse calibre 8906. Antimagnetic, with resistance to 15,000 gauss, and water resistant to 2000 feet, the Deep Black watches have passed the 8 tests set by the Swiss Federal Institue of Metrology and are COSC certified.
In crafting the bezel, Omega has blended ceramic and rubber for a unique look. The diving scales on all of the bezels are made using Liquidmetal® or OMEGA Ceragold™. On the flip side of the watch, Omega has created an oriented caseback so that the engraved wording always stays in the proper orientation. The accomplishment is achieved through Omega’s patented ceramic Naiad Lock. In fact, the collection is so extensive in its high-tech appeal that we will be bringing a closer look to you soon, but for now we wanted to get the word out.
The Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black watches are water resistant to 600 meters (2000 feet)
The watch is presented on a rubber strap, which also has a number of innovations. For starters it is designed to give the appearance of fabric and features contrasting stitching. Additionally, the strap has been treated with an antibacterial coating. For the Sedna gold model, the strap is water resistant leather with the same antibacterial coating on the rubber underside. With a four year warranty, the Deep Black watches retail for10’400 CHF (approximately $10,850) without tax for the black models and 13’900CHF (about $14,900) for the black and Sedna gold version.
