On this “Wow-Women’s Wednesday” we introduce you to something superbly special. It’s a new Audemars Piguet piece built to underscore the brand’s dedication to women. Indeed, Audemars Piguet has been creating timepieces for ladies since 1883, and has offered exquisite jewelry, as well. This newest Haute Joaillerie masterpiece was created under the vigilant eye of President of the Board, Jasmine Audemars, and stems from the imagination of female designer, Julie Dicks – under the guidance of the very creative chief Artistic officer, Ocatvio Garcia (whom we have written about before).
The haute joaillerie timepiece is inspired by nature. It measures 28.5mm in diameter and is fitted with a stunning bracelet of diamond foliage. The crown of the watch is offset at 2:00 and the dial features a stylized gold sculpture of birds flying beneath branches and above snow (meant to recall a scene in the Jura overlooking Lac de Joux). The designer’s concept — symbolizing nature – is achieved via mother of pearl, gold, diamonds and a sprinkling of blue sapphires.
The timepiece is powered by a manufacture-made mechanical hand-wound movement, the caliber 3091 that offers 48 hours of power reserve. The bracelet alone underwent a particularly meticulous process that would enable it to offer flexibility and drama. Each gold leave is hand crafted and only quality diamonds in brilliant-, baguette- and marquise-cuts are used. In total the shimmering masterpiece is bedecked with 440 diamonds (including 16 exceptional marquise-cut gems) totaling 10.99 carats, and 11 sapphires weighing 0.21 carats.
