As the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix is poised to take place November 16-18, IWC Schaffhausen, which partners with Mercedes-AMG and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team, introduces two new performance Pilot’s Watch Chronographs. Immediately distinctive, the two watches both boast a ceramic bezel with a tachymeter scale, which allows the wearer to measure the average speed in relation to the distance travelled.
As the “Official Engineering Partner” of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team, IWC’s new chronographs include the titanium Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 AMG and a striking Ceratanium® version, the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team with teal green accents on the black dial.
The black glossy finish on the dials, recessed totalizers, applied Super-LumiNova® indices and numerals contribute to the sleek design. Powered by the IWC-manufactured 69385 caliber, these timepieces are water-resistant to 10 bar. The timepieces represent the commitment IWC has had to Mercedes-AMG for the past 10 years and its ongoing relationship.
The Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 AMG (Ref. IW388305/04) boasts a titanium case, crown, and pushers, showcasing IWC’s expertise in working with this lightweight metal. The grade 5 titanium alloy used in the case is 45% lighter than steel. It comes with a black rubber strap or a titanium bracelet with H-links.
The Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team (Ref. IW388306/07) features a case made of Ceratanium®, a material developed by IWC that combines the lightness of titanium with the hardness of ceramic. It is available with a black rubber strap or a Ceratanium® bracelet.
All versions are equipped with the IWC-manufactured 69385 caliber movement, featuring 242 parts and a bi-directional pawl winding system with a 46-hour power reserve. The chronograph has a distinctive vertical subdial arrangement, enhancing readability. The mechanical movement offers chronograph function, date and day display, small hacking seconds, and glass secured against displacement by drops in air pressure.
In celebrating the launch, IWC Schaffhausen is reinforcing its dedication to motorsports and its longstanding partnerships, presenting these watches as not just timepieces but as a fusion of precision engineering and high-performance aesthetics for enthusiasts with a need for speed. The AMG Pilot Performance Chronograph sells for $9,800 on strap and $11,700 on bracelet. The Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS sells for $13,700 on strap and $19,900 on bracelet.
Chris Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen, states, “The Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 combines our extensive know-how in developing industry-leading chronographs with our comprehensive expertise in advanced materials.
