Green is the new blue this year, with so many brands unveiling exceptional green-dial watches. Now, MB&F joins the green move with its newest Legacy Machine Split Escapement (LE SE) Titanium Green watch with stunning green dial.
The first Legacy Machine Split Escapement LE SE was introduced in October of 2017 in four versions, including a copper dial model and a blue dial model with star-dust-like “frosted” dials. The new white gold LM SE green dial is beautifully worked in a different motif: a sun-ray finished green CVD. If you think the pictures look good, wait until you see the watch up close. This watch is a beauty both aesthetically and technically.
The key technical element of this watch is its suspended balance wheel that sits beneath the high domed sapphire crystal — visible above the dial. It has the appearance of oscillating on its own because MB&F has relocated the driving impulse, anchor and escape wheel to the opposite side of the movement, concealing it from view. With this reconfigured design, comes the name Split Escapement. The watch was the result of a collaboration with Stephen McDonnell. It is highly unconventional thanks to the regulating system has been split between the top of the movement and the back of the movement, thanks to an extra-long shaft of 12mm that goes right through the movement, connecting the regulating system’s essential components. We invite you to read about the movement and its complexities here.
Just 33 pieces of the striking LE SE Titanium Green watch will be made, each retails for $68,000.
