Since the first moment Vincent Perriard, founder of HYT, told me about his incredible liquid timekeeper, I knew it would be a winner. That was just about three years ago. Now, the brand continues to unveil new models of the first ever wristwatch to show time using liquid. The new H1, fueled by more than a year of R&D, is now offered in bold Red fluid. The fluid is stored in a reservoir under the dome at 6:00 and, with a push of a button, it advances via a thin tube or capillary, to indicate the hours before returning to its home. We’ve written about the HYT1 and how it works before, and you can get more details here and here.
Now, however, we want to introduce you to the new titanium and micro-blasted 5N pink gold cased 48.8mm H1 Red2, created in a limited edition of 50 pieces with a mechanical hand-wound exclusive HYT calibre and retrograde liquid hours in red, regulator minutes, small seconds and power reserve indicator (65 hours). Also, welcome the new HYT H2 Titanium and White Gold blue watch with bold blue liquid that interacts with the movement through two bellows in a “V” shape. (We’ve written about how this watch works here and here.) In the new titanium and white gold cased model the central minute jumping hand (which jumps past the bellows at 30 minutes) has a layered construction and runs alongside the fluid system. It also has a temperature indicator to let the wearer know the best time to make time adjustments. This watch is powered by a mechanical hand wound HYT calibre that offers 8 days (192 hours) of power reserve. Just 20 of these will ever be made.
