This year, Grand Seiko celebrates 20 years of its famed Spring Drive movement. Additionally Japanese car brand Nissan GT-R celebrate a 50th anniversary. The two Japanese brands come together now to celebrate in style with a Grand Seiko sport collection that pays homage to the Nissan GT-R. Naturally, the new series is equipped with the Spring Drive chronograph caliber — and it coms with a high-tech ceramic case that mimes the blue of the GT-R.
The Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary model pays homage to the race-car version of the original 1969 Skyline 2000 GT-R, which will make its debut in 2020. The watch takes inspiration from the GT-R’s iconic blue color, ‘Bayside blue.’ As such, the ceramic case of the watch is in bold blue ceramic, while the inner case is made of lightweight and highly durable titanium.The watch features a tachymeter bezel, as well
Water resistant to 10 ATM, the watch features a white dial and a white crocodile strap with blue stitching. The highly coveted Spring Drive movement(with a high accuracy level of +/-0.5 seconds per day) is visible through the sapphire crystal case back and the GT-R anniversary emblem in 18-karat yellow gold is set into the oscillating weight. The chronograph measures elapsed time for up to twelve hours. Just 200 pieces will be made, each retailing for $21,000.
