To celebrate its 35th anniversary, Swiss brand Frederique Constant unveils two new stainless steel tourbillon watches this year – which is also the 15th anniversary of its tourbillon movement.
Following the success of the 150-piece limited rose gold edition ($27,995) unveiled earlier this year, the company also unveils two stainless steel variations of its Manufacture Tourbillon timepieces (with one more soon to make an appearance).
The new stainless steel models, presented in a 39mm case, offer a contemporary twist to the classic design and perfectly complement the original rose gold version. The watches come in two exquisite variations: a captivating blue dial and a sophisticated silver-colored dial. Each edition is limited to 350 pieces and showcases the renowned Geneva-based firm’s exceptional watchmaking expertise.
The first model features a sun-brushed midnight blue dial housed in a polished steel case, complemented by a matte blue alligator strap. The second variation boasts a sun-brushed silver-colored dial and shares the same strap. The individual number of each timepiece is marked on the tourbillon cage and engraved on the caseback, allowing discerning collectors to admire the exquisite finishings on the FC-980 Manufacture movement.
Both models pay homage to the rich traditions of watchmaking, featuring a restrained 39mm diameter that has become a favorite among collectors of classic fine watches. The size is versatile, suitable for both men’s and women’s wrists. Frederique Constant decided to return to this diameter after previously using a 42mm diameter for the tourbillon.
The dials are elegantly adorned with slim hour markers, meticulously applied by hand and diamond faceted. The hands feature the same technique, resulting in a brilliant shine. Positioned below the discreet ‘Frederique Constant – Genève’ signature at 12:00 is the centerpiece of these watches: the captivating tourbillon visible through an opening at 6:00.
Key specifications of the Frederique Constant Manufacture Tourbillon include the following: hours, minutes, and a 60-second tourbillon. The timepieces house the FC-980 in-house caliber, an automatic movement that offers a 38-hour power reserve. The impeccable craftsmanship includes chamfering, circular graining, flanks drawing, mirror polishing, and other exquisite decorations. Notably, the watch employs a silicon escapement wheel and anchor, ensuring precision and durability.
Crafted from polished stainless steel, the three-part case is scratch-resistant and features an anti-reflective convex sapphire crystal. The exhibition caseback allows watch enthusiasts to admire the intricate details of the movement. With a water resistance of up to 5 ATM or 50 meters, these watches are not only exquisite but also practical for everyday wear. The stainless steel tourbillon watches retail for $15,695.
