Inspired by the Colorado Grand® annual charity tour, where vintage sports and race cars drive 1,000 miles through the Rockies in five days, Swiss watch brand Franck Muller (a sponsor of the event) unveils a new collection that pays homage to the event and the participating legendary car brands.
The Colorado Grand, run with the cooperation of the Colorado State Patrol, is a non-competitive drive, and spectators are invited to see the cars, meet the owners and mingle for a while. The recent event witnessed more than 80 cars from around the world, including some 1920’s and ‘30’s automobiles from brands like Porsche, Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Delahaye and more. Typically, the rally generates more than half a million dollars annually for small Colorado charities.
In honor of its collaboration and title as the exclusive watch sponsor for the prestigious event, Franck Muller has created an exclusive collection of four Vanguard watches – each of which is powered by an all-new in-house-made movement. The dial side of the bold tonneau-shaped watch boasts an open-worked aperture at 12:00 and a subsidiary seconds hand at 6:00 with overlapping circles for balance and harmony. The watches boast a transparent sapphire crystal caseback that allows for viewing the caliber.
Just 33 pieces of each watch will be made. The variations include a version in 18-karat rose gold with a blue dial inspired by the Bugatti and retailing for $23,500, a Steel version with silver dial inspired by Mercedes that retails for $16,500, a steel model with red dial inspired by Ferrari that sells for $14,500 and a Bentley-inspired titanium model with green dial that sells for $14,500. The watches are an American exclusive and are in stores now.
