It’s an exciting day for Swiss watch brand Jaeger-LeCoultre, a new immersive-experience boutique just opened on the prestigious Rodeo Drive in America. Located directly across from the iconic Bijan boutique, the new store is built on a new design concept with a more interactive and engaging presentation. This marks the fourth USA brand-specific boutique (after New York, Las Vegas and Costa Mesa, CA), and even the décor of this one celebrates the brand’s iconic watchmaking prowess.
The outside of the store features a facade designed to resemble the brand’s famed Reverso. Jjust in time for the store opening, Jaeger-LeCoultre presents a great new Polaris Automatic Date watch in the hot color of the year: dark green. The Green Polaris Automatic Date joins an already extensive and coveted lineup of Polaris timepieces.
The Polaris collection is inspired by the 1968 Memovox Polaris and has become a coveted sporty chic series for the brand since its reintroduction in recent years. Current Polaris watches offer vintage design codes, great function and top-notch performance. The newest model is no exception.
Water resistant to 200 meters, the 42mm dive watch boasts a gradient deep green lacquered dial with multiple textured finishes that include opaline, grained and sunray surfaces for each of the dial segments – making it a real eyecatcher. A different finish and hue appears on the outer chapter ring, the minute track and the center so that depending on the angle, the wearer sees olive to forest and even a khaki green. The indexes and hands, as well as the key numerals all offer vanilla tinted Super-LumiNova luminescence
In terms of function, the watch is equipped with an inner bezel that is controlled by the crown at 2:00 so the wearer can set the dive time countdown with extreme precision. The box-like crystal recalls the Plexiglass crystals of the 1960’s. With so much function, the watch also has great form thanks to the polished lugs and narrow bezel, as well as the transparent caseback – a rarity in dive watches. Additionally, it boasts a date aperture and the brand’s quick-change strap system. The stainless steel watch is powered by the Caliber 899 automatic movement with 70 hours of power reserve. It retails for $9,200.
The new Polaris Green Date watch joins the brand’s Stellar Odyssey 2022 concept, wherein Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates its prowess in astronomical watchmaking. Astronomical complicated watches with sky charts and lunar cycles, equation of time watches, calendar watches, moonphase watches and date watches all come into play this year.
