It’s been a long time coming but It’s finally here; Pikachu on the dial of a Romain Jerome watch. Working in collaboration with The Pokémon Company International, the two celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pokemon.. The star of the show: Pikachu — the beloved character that caught the hearts of children and adults. Just 20 of the new RJ X Pokemon watch — unveiled at SIAR in Mexico City — will be made, each retailing for $20,000.
The most well-known Pokémon character happily resides on the dial — in brilliant yellow glory. Pikachu and the lightning bolt have been delicately hand-painted in yellow cold enamel. The 46mm Moon Invader titanium case is black PVD, and the baseplate is black DLC. The pattern on the dial (Pikachu’s electric type) is created using a sand-blasted and satin-brushed technique. The black DLC lugs are integrated into the case and thewatch is finished with a vulcanized rubber strap whose color matches the character’s signature yellow.
The watch is powered by the RJ001-A mechanical self-winding movement with 42 hours of power reserve. It is water resistant to 30 meters. The caseback feature a grainy textured Pokemon medallion in circular brushed steel. The hour and minute hands are coated with Superluminova C1 “blue emission.”
