Almost since its inception, German watch brand, Tutima, has been deeply involved in the world of aviation. In fact, its 1940’s historical pilot chronograph has become a legend in the pilots world due to its reliability and functionality. The watch, outfitted with caliber UROFA 59, was the first German chronograph to boast addition timing and a flyback function.
Now, 75 years later, the Grand Flieger Airport Chronograph (Ref. 6401-01 and 02) represents the newest rendition of this historical timepiece. Powered by the Tutima automatic 320 caliber with 25 jewels, the 43mm watch offers 44 hours of power reserve. In addition to hours, minutes and small seconds, the watch offers chronograph counters for 12 hours, 30 minutes and 60 seconds. It also provides the date and is an Officially certified German Chronometer according to DIN norm 8319. Crafted in stainless steel with a bi-directional rotating bezel, this version is finished with a leather strap with folding clasp. $5,100.
The other version is the same but with a stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp. It features a rotating fluted bezel with luminous markings, a domed sapphire crystal that is anti-reflective on both sides and a screw-in caseback with sapphire crystal. It is water resistant to 20ATM and is powered by the Caliber Tutima 320 automatic movement. The watch features a sweep second counter, date, and time indication and chronograph 60-second, 30-minute and 12-hour counters. The 12-hour counter features red numerals for a boldly modern appeal and easy readability. $5,500.
