With everything around us beginning to recall the 1970’s – think fashion, muscle cars and more — Glashütte Original takes the lead in this trend, unveiling its Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date models in summer colors reminiscent of the era: Vibing Orange and Disco Blue. Perfect for those summertime vibes, these newest watches are being released in limited editions of just 100 pieces each – making them elusive as well as seductive.
The Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date watches are a collector’s dream. They have that perfect 1970’s TV-screen cushion-cornered case design and a dial that is spot on. The newest versions are no exception. Dials boast matte lacquer colors that not only shout summer in the 1970’s, but also scream vintage redefined.
Each dial – whether it is the alluring turquoise blue or the captivating coral — boasts bold yet beautiful color, with white Super-LumiNova® markers and hands. The watches are offered with a metal integrated bracelet for $14,900, or on a black rubber strap for $13,700. The 40mm x 40mm watches are crafted in stainless steel and are powered by the brand’s manufacture automatic caliber 37-02 with 70 hours of power reserve. The movement is visible via a sapphire crystal case back.
Water resistant to 100 meters, the watch boasts a flyback chronograph movement that allows for one hand to catch up to the other when the chronograph is stopped. Sadly, just 100 of each dial color will be made. This is a disco delight for sure and those who love the ‘70’s and the great mechanical technology of this 19th century German brand had better get stomping.
Personally, I have always loved this collection. In fact, even though the brand creates some super complicated timepieces, the Seventies series captures an era that captures my heart. Now, with the new color dials, I want to indulge in those memories more than ever before.
According to Glashütte Original, which took its inspiration from the colors of the ‘70’s, the “light blue stands for freedom and light-heartedness, while orange exudes zest for life and jollity.” Yep. These are the watches for those who love color, fun and a Seventies vibe.
Lovely watches with vibrant color ways. Surely within the next few years it will be no surprise to see collaborations with Porsche and/or BMW as their brand continues to grow.
