The staple of any watch collection is a great steel watch. The aesthetic of steel and blackened steel is equally at home in a suit and tie, as in jeans and your favorite nostalgia tee shirt. Additionally, a good steel timepiece at a great price is always a nice add-on to a collection. Now, independent watch brand Dietrich unveils its newest steel bracelet watch that is meant to be an every day companion, and even has that concept in its name: Time Companion.
The Time Companion is meant to be at home in any wardrobe situation and does so while striking the unique design cues the brand is known for. Most notable is the six-sided case and matching design found on the metal strap. The pattern along the metal bracelet of the watch has some inspiration from reptilian animals, and the play of light as it reflects off each of the “scales” adds interesting appeal. Additionally, the bracelet link motif is more than just a design cue. It adds to the wearability of the watch thanks to its ergonomic fit. The entire effect adds a layer of character to the piece.
Additionally, what really adds an element of self identity to the Time Companion are the layers of customization available. The watch is sold in stainless steel, Time Companion 1, or in black PVD stainless steel, the TC-2. However, you can select add-on items, including picking one of three colorways for the dial – black, blue or silver. Each watch feats a highly legible dial offering hours, minutes, seconds and date in a 43.8 mm case. Additionally, for an extra charge, you can select a bezel option with hours engraved on it. All said there are a total of 12 different combinations that one can make when buying the Dietrich Time Companion in order to make your watch a more unique representation of what a person wants for their everyday wear.
The new Time Companion by Dietrich is an extension of the brand’s collections. Dietrich was founded by Emmanuel Dietrich who was born in Besancon, the historic watch capital of France. He has had a love of watches since childhood and has been creating Dietrich watches since 1993.
What sets the Time Companion apart for me is the amount of customization available, and the opportunity to really make this your own. The watches retail for $1,800 in stainless steel and for $1,950 in black PVD steel. To add on the numbered bezel additional is $150.
Wow – that’s a great looking watch!! I want.
