Carl F. Bucherer — long synonymous with Swiss horological craftsmanship — deftly bridges tradition and innovation. One of its latest releases – the Heritage Worldtimer — revisits the past while embracing modernity, offering a contemporary interpretation of a classic from the 1950s and the golden age of aviation.
The Heritage Worldtimer is a five-piece collection designed to captivate those with a wanderlust and an appreciation of an era when global exploration was becoming more accessible. While their classic design pays homage to the past, the Heritage Worldtimer watches incorporate Carl F. Bucherer’s cutting-edge Peripheral Technology, perfect for the modern globetrotter.
At the heart of each watch in the collection is the A2020 manufacture movement, a COSC-certified chronometer. Thanks to the Peripheral Technology, with a bi-directional rotor on the outer periphery of the movement, the caliber is sleeker and thinner than most, additionally, by repositioning key components around the movement’s periphery, Carl F. Bucherer ensures uninterrupted views of the movement through the sapphire case back.
Each of the five models in this collection boast a 39mm case with a height of 10.25mm, perfect for a contemporary wrist while maintaining a vintage feel. The double-domed sapphire crystal, complete with anti-reflective coating, enhances legibility and durability. It is also water resistant to 30 meters.
What also sets this collection apart is the variety of dial and material options, each offering a distinct personality. The steel versions are available with a silver or black sunray-brushed dial, complemented by a matching steel bracelet or black leather strap. The watches feature index markers, outer 24-hour ring and thin baton hands.
For those seeking a more opulent option, the rose gold cased version, created in a limited edition of just 88 pieces and boasting a silver dial and black leather strap, exudes timeless elegance.
The new Heritage series Worldtimer maintains the cosmopolitan spirit of its predecessor from the 1950’s, but with a simplified world-time function operated by a second crown positioned at 9:00. This crown controls the city disk, allowing the wearer to easily track time across global cities. Though the names of some cities have changed to reflect today’s global hubs, the typeface and layout maintain their vintage charm.
The Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Worldtimer watches retail from $7,900 to $14,900. To me, the watch offers a great look, a precision movement and the ability to wear a worldtimer at a value-oriented price.
