Calibre de Cartier Chronograph
This year, Cartier moves ahead – big time. The brand has unveiled here at the SIHH 2013 so many incredible new pieces that it will take some time to sort it out and get the info to you. But that’s ok; most of the watches won’t be available for sale until 6 months or more down the road. As such, we wanted to showcase one of its classical, sporty chic new watches today—the Calibre de Cartier Chronograph. The 42mm watch is fitted with a fully in-house manufactured caliber, the column-wheel chronograph (1904-CH MC) with a central vertical clutch. It is offered in either steel or gold, with or without gemstones. Unveiled by Cartier’s head of fine watchmaking Carole Forestier-Kasapi, who won the 2012 Geneva Grand Prix award for best watchmaker, the Calibre de Cartier Chronograph features a double-barrel power source that offers a more consistent torque during the 48-hour power reserve. In addition, Cartier integrates a linear return-to-zero hammer in this movement to guarantee instant, simultaneous and precise return of all chronograph hands, whatever the force exerted on the push-piece.
