A testament to aviation history, Swiss watch brand Breitling re-imagines its beloved Avenger collection – introducing four different models ranging from an Automatic 42 to an Automatic GMT 44, a B01 Chronograph 44 Night Mission and B01 Chronograph 44. The watches come with different movements powering them, an array of color choices and top-notch aviation inspiration.
For over two decades, Breitling’s Avenger has been the watch of choice for airborne adventurers. With its unrivaled combination of bold design, exceptional durability, and cutting-edge functionality, the Avenger has been a steadfast companion for jet pilots and enthusiasts alike. In fact, Breitling has been synonymous with aviation with roots dating back to the 1930s when its founder, Willy Breitling, established the HUIT Aviation Department. This dedicated department created precision aircraft instruments and pilots’ chronographs, a legacy that evolved into iconic timepieces like the Navitimer, AVI Co-Pilot, Aerospace, Emergency, and, of course, the Avenger.
The new Avenger collection comprises four distinct formats, each meticulously crafted with a choice of military leather straps featuring a folding pin buckle or three-row stainless-steel bracelets with a micro-adjustable folding clasp. All models boast a remarkable 300-meter water resistance and are built to withstand corrosion and wear, making them ideal companions for aviation enthusiasts and adventurers alike.
Breitling Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 and Chronograph 44 Night Mission
Beating within the new Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 and B01 Chronograph 44 Night Mission is the self-winding mechanical Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, known for providing approximately 70 hours of power. These movements, which are also COSC-certified chronometers, feature bi-directional oscillating eights, column-wheel chronographs with vertical clutch and display hours, minute, seconds and date. The 44mm stainless steel case is water resistant to 300 meters and boasts anti-glare sapphire crystal n sapphire case back insert for viewing of the movement.
In the Avenger B01 Chronograph 44, the watches are offered with either a black, blue, green or sand-colored dial with matching colored military leather straps. Baton indexes streamline the dial, placing emphasis on the red-tipped chrono hand. The grip pattern on the crown and bezel, along with the new square pushers, contribute to a seamless timekeeping experience. The Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 retails for $8,000 on a strap and $8,250 on bracelet.
For those who desire a bolder statement, the Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 Night Mission, equipped with the same 336-poart B 01 movement, is offered with a black ceramic case with either vibrant yellow or carbon black dial. Its caseback, crown, pushers, and buckle are crafted from solid titanium, providing exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. Dial numerals and indexes are coated with Super-LumiNova to ensure legibility, especially on the black dial, made from resilient carbon fiber. The Night Mission watches retail for the same as the Avenger Chronograph 44.
This choice of materials, including carbon fiber, titanium, and steel, echoes the construction of aircraft, aligning the Avenger’s lightweight and durable design with the jets they are meant to accompany.
Avenger Automatic GMT 44 and Automatic 42
Pilots and frequent flyers will appreciate the Avenger Automatic GMT 44’s ability to provide instant readings of Zulu time with its distinctive red GMT hand and 24-hour rotating bezel. This model features the same diameter as the chronograph with a more compact profile. Available with black or naval-inspired blue dials, it comes with the option of a military leather strap or a three-row stainless-steel bracelet. The watch is powered by the COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 32, offering an approximate 42-hour power reserve and backed by a two-year warranty.
The Avenger Automatic 42 offers the robustness of its larger counterparts in a more compact 42mm diameter. Constructed in steel, it is available with black, naval-blue, or camo-green dials and offers a choice of a matching military leather strap or a three-row stainless-steel bracelet. Its engine is the COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 17 automatic three-hand movement, delivering up to 38 hours of power and backed by a two-year warranty. These watches retail for $4,600 on strap and $4,850 on bracelet.
The new Avenger collection takes center stage in its just-released campaign, showcased on the wrists of Switzerland’s Patrouille Suisse aerobatics team, where it truly belongs. Breitling’s Avenger is reborn, ready to conquer the skies in style, and its impressive new design is set to be the perfect companion for those seeking action-fueled adventures in the realm of aviation.
