Last night, I had the distinct pleasure of joining Audemars Piguet in New York at the Park Avenue Armory as the brand celebrated the premiere of an exhibition of 4 decades of the famed Royal Oak.
From 60-foot-long dinner tables, to celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tom Brady, the 300-plus people party was a wonderful event – heralding the invention of the Royal Oak and the ingenuity and creative spirit of the brand.
Audemars Piguet is bringing 100 significant Royal Oak watches on world tour – including the very first one designed by legend Gerald Genta and unveiled as the first luxury sport watch in steel in 1972. The brand has even published a hard cover book celebrating the 40th anniversary. Last night’s event was the opening of the four-day exhibit open to the public at the Park Avenue Armory – and showcased not only Royal Oak watches, but also artistic works of sculpture, photography and more by three world-renowned artists. Tonight, the brand continues its celebration with a cocktail event for 700 people, and with another round of celebrities.
Watch for a complete story on the event and exhibition that will appear here on Friday. Meanwhile – get yourself to the Park Avenue Armory in NYC before Saturday at 10 pm when the exhibition closes and moves to Milan.
