Known for her grand talent and poise, actress Anya Taylor-Joy joins the Jaeger-LeCoultre family as its newest brand ambassador. To announce the news, the Maison created a special video entitled “A Call of the Heart” based on the idea of the brand calling her to invite her on board, and also recalling a significant phone call in the brand’s history.
In fact, in 1903, Jacques-David LeCoultre apparently called Edmond Jaeger to say that he would accept Jaeger’s challenge to create an ultra-thin watch movement. It was the beginning of a collaboration that would become Jaeger-LeCoultre. The brand has since created both ultra-thin and highly complicated movements.
The 26-year-old Anya Taylor-Joy was born in Miami and raised in Buenos Aires and London. She has received rave reviews for her role in Robert Egger’s The Witch (2016) and went on to star in The Queen’s Gambit (Netflix 2020) and her portrayal of Beth Harmon won her a Golden Globe, A SAG (Screen Actors’Guild) Award and a Critics’ Choice Award. Next she starred in Last Night in Soho and The Northman and will be starring alongside Christian Bale and Margot Robbie in Amsterdam and in a few other films. She is currently also filming the Mad Max prequel, Furiosa.
According to Catherine Renier, CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre, “The encounter with Anya was meant to be. Her long family history with polo and interest in watchmaking led us to a natural partnership. With her ethereal beauty, her sensitivity, her talent and hardworking ethics, she embodies the values and style of our Maison.”
