Accutron, the pioneer in electrostatic technology, continues to redefine the boundaries of horology with the launch of two cutting-edge models, expanding the iconic Spaceview 2020 collection. These avant-garde timepieces mark a leap forward, utilizing the Accutron Manufacture movement, powered by revolutionary electrostatic energy.
In a nod to the original Spaceview’s legacy of risk-taking and technical brilliance from the 1960’s, Accutron’s latest creations pay homage to the open dial design. The 1960’s Accutron Spaceview, with its exposed tuning fork movement and deconstructed outer case, became a masterpiece symbolizing design integrity and technical excellence, making it an icon in timepiece history.
The new addition to the Spaceview 2020 lineup is a stunning green-dial version, now available on either a black or green strap for great color-coordination and a bold look. Boasting a 43.5mm polished stainless-steel case, the watches feature a striking green transparent open-work dial with a transparent outer ring. White hour and minute hands, enhanced with Super-LumiNova, complement the orange second hand, providing a captivating visual experience.
The timepieces also incorporate a domed double box sapphire crystal and boast water resistance up to 50 meters. Available on either a matte black or green genuine American alligator strap, these luxurious watches retail for $3,850.
Central to the innovation is Accutron’s proprietary movement powered by electrostatic energy. The movement, driven by twin turbines, harnesses the kinetic energy generated by human motion. As the turbines rotate at incredible speeds between two electrodes affixed to the movement, the energy is stored in an accumulator. This stored energy powers two motors – a groundbreaking electrostatic motor that drives the fluid second hand and a step motor responsible for the hour and minute hands. Both motors are meticulously synchronized through integrated circuits, ensuring a remarkable accuracy of +/- 5 seconds a month.
