In a rare collaboration between two stalwarts of luxury craftsmanship, Girard-Perregaux and Château Latour present the 1966 Château Latour Edition—a timepiece that seamlessly intertwines nearly 1000 years of history, elegance, and excellence. Released in a limited edition of 18, this watch is a testament to the artistry and heritage embedded in both prestigious brands. Of particular note in these 18 watches is the unique dial of each one… individually made using stone from Chateau Latour’s region.
Founded in 1791, Girard-Perregaux has etched its name in horological history with a relentless pursuit of excellence. The brand’s journey is marked by milestones, from winning prestigious awards in the 19th century to pioneering the high-frequency movement in 1966. The 1966 collection, born from this groundbreaking achievement, epitomizes elegance, simplicity, and timeless styling.
Château Latour, rooted in a history dating back to 1331, stands as one of the 5 ‘Premiers Crus Classés’ from the Médoc region of France. The estate’s commitment to excellence mirrors Girard-Perregaux’s ethos. The unique terroir of Château Latour, characterized by a mild climate and geological complexity, finds its way into the watch’s design through the use of exclusive pebbles from the vineyard.
Each dial of the 1966 Château Latour Edition undergoes a meticulous 30-hour process. Natural pebbles are sought, with only the finest ones passing inspection. They are then machine-cut individually. The slabs are then carefully ground to a mere 0.45mm in depth and polished before being mounted on a brass base, resulting in a final thickness of 0.70mm. The stone dials then receive their applied GP initials and undergo final assembly. Each and every dial is unique thanks to the appearance and structure of the stone veining and hues — all adding a touch of exclusivity and art.
The case, crafted from pink gold, complements the pebble dial’s enchanting complexion, accentuating its subtle yellow hues. Golden leaf-shaped hour and minute hands, slender indexes, a center seconds hand, and a date display complete the functional yet elegant ensemble. The self-winding Caliber GP03300, visible through the sapphire crystal case-back adorned with the Château Latour logo, showcases exemplary finishing and is a testament to Girard-Perregaux’s commitment to horological refinement.
The 1966 Château Latour Edition is a fusion of Château Latour’s terroir and Girard-Perregaux’s horological mastery. The watches are available exclusively to private guests of the Château Latour estate and the Villa Girard-Perregaux in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
