Ok watch lovers on the West coast, now’s your chance to finally get some good German watchmaking on your wrist. A. Lange & Söhne has opened the doors to its newest United States store — situated in the heart of San Francisco’s Union Square on Geary Street. This opening follows the re-opening of the New York store late last year and of Boston before that. Located on the third floor of the iconic Sachs Building, the Salon offers a serene, sophisticated environment where guests can immerse themselves in the artistry, heritage, and craftsmanship that have made A. Lange & Söhne synonymous with elegance.
Guests are welcomed into a contemporary design space spanning 1,539 square feet, rich with opportunities for exploration. The Salon’s interior design is inspired by Union Square’s legacy as an “urban room” in downtown San Francisco, offering retail space generously apportioned across three lounges, a central community space, and a hospitality bar area.
The main area of the Salon offers guests an opportunity to experience the latest A. Lange & Söhne masterpieces in a relaxed environment. Large arched shaped windows invite natural light to flow through the space, illuminating three showcases displaying highlights of the collection. The Salon also features a Lange “Experience Library,” a fixture in A. Lange & Söhne boutiques worldwide that tells the brand’s story through a set of carefully selected exhibits and artifacts. Furthermore, in a private viewing area, a media room featuring a 98” high-definition home theatre enables guests to examine – on demand and in intricate detail – the technical sophistication of selected Lange movements.
The Salon promises not only to cater to individual collectors but also to embed the defining characteristics of German fine watchmaking into the greater community. A communal table central to the interior design creates the ambiance of an atelier, enabling a group of enthusiasts to share watch presentations, special events with Lange watchmakers and sales advisors, or conversations with like-minded enthusiasts, all while overlooking the nearby landmark buildings on Geary Street.
“There is no substitute for the experience of holding an A. Lange & Söhne watch in your hands, and feeling it on your wrist,” says Wilhelm Schmid, CEO of A. Lange & Söhne. “Our Northern California collector community has long demonstrated a keen interest in the design choices and mechanical ingenuity applied by our watchmakers in the quest to achieve the highest level of craftsmanship. We invite our customers and friends to consider the San Francisco Salon a sanctuary where it is possible, over time and at one’s leisure, to explore what makes our timepieces so special and different.”
“Our Maison is only as strong as the dedication and passion of the community that supports it,” says Rudy Chavez, President of A. Lange & Söhne Americas. “For nearly 30 years, the stories behind A. Lange & Söhne timepieces have been a source of joyful exploration and spirited debate by Bay Area watch enthusiasts. We look forward to continuing our tradition of kinship and approachability with existing collectors and new members of the community, at our new home in the heart of San Francisco.”
The Salon San Francisco operates from Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 17:00. Reservations are not required but are encouraged. For more information, please contact A. Lange & Söhne at +1-415-228-9915 or via email at SanFrancisco@Lange-Soehne.com.
