Bell & Ross continues to push the boundaries of watchmaking with the new BR 03 Astro, a stunning tribute to Earth and its celestial companions. Limited to just 999 pieces, this watch takes inspiration from the vastness of space, positioning Earth at the center of its dial while the Moon and Mars orbit around it. More than just a technical achievement, the BR 03 Astro captures the mystery and beauty of our cosmic neighborhood in an instrument that seamlessly blends science fiction with high horology. Plus, in all honesty, it is a super cool watch dial.

Encased in 41mm of micro-blasted black ceramic, the watch has a commanding presence on the wrist, evoking the concept of infinite space. The matte finish of the case seems to absorb light, enhancing its stealthy aesthetic, while the robust ceramic material ensures scratch resistance and durability. The fact that it is 100-meter water resistant, thanks to a screw-down crown, ensures reliability in various environments.

The watch’s most striking feature is its dial and domed sapphire crystal, engineered with a spherical cap at its center. This architectural design element allows the rendered Earth to appear in relief, creating a mesmerizing sense of depth. The Blue Planet itself is meticulously crafted using a detailed decal process that gives it a realistic and textured appearance, serving as the focal point of the dial.

Inspired by the International Space Station’s Cupola observation dome, which provides astronauts with breathtaking views of Earth, the watch boasts a tiny space station module made of laser-engraved metallic that rotates around the Earth every 60 seconds to indicate the seconds. Meanwhile, the rotating moon indicates the minutes. Finally, a bright red orb, emulating Mars, showcases the hours as a mysterious hand.  This astronomical dance all takes place against a backdrop dial of blue aventurine.

The watch is powered by the  automatic BR-CAL.327, based on the Sellita SW300, providing a reliable 54-hours of  power reserve.  The BR-03 Astro is finished with a black rubber strap with PVD-coated steel hardware, and s old with an additional Velcro-style strap. The watch retails for $4,800. But honestly, this conversation starter looks like it sells for way more. You may never look at outer space the same after seeing it on your wrist.
