Later this week, in Miami, Formula 1 comes racing into town. While all the motorsports teams will be revving their engines, so, too, will certain watch brands that have affiliations with the fast-paced F1 world. Among them: H. Moser & Cie.

Last month, independent Swiss watch brand H. Moser & Cie. wowed the world with the announcement of its foray into the Formula 1 world as the first Global Partner of Alpine Motorsports and its multiple programs and platforms, BWT Alpine F1 Team (for which H. Moser is the Timekeeping Partner), the Alpine Endurance Team, Alpine Academy, Rac(H)er, and other projects. Additionally, H. Moser & Cie. announced its collaboration with BWT Alpine F1 Team driver Pierre Gasly –marking the first time the brand join forces with an individual.
For this alliance, the BWT Alpine F1 Team’s Technical center and the Swiss Manufacturer will work together to exchange ideas, concepts, materials and more. To that end, H. Moser & Cie. just released the exciting new Streamliner Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Alpine Limited Edition in honor of the relationship.

Just about a week or so ago, H. Moser released the first fruit of its partnership with Alpine Motorsports, the H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Alpine Limited Edition watch. A marvel in design, aesthetics, technical innovation and more, the three-dimensional stainless steel 42.3mm watch boasts a sculptured look, enhanced by the fully skeletonized HMC 811 automatic movement.
Consisting of 171 parts, the mechanical caliber features a one-minute flying tourbillon with cylindrical hairspring – visible via an aperture at 6:00 on the dial – that compensates for errors in timekeeping due to the effects of gravity on the watch when it is in certain positions on the wrist.

The complicated caliber boasts a host of technical features that range from being powered by a bi-directional pawl-winding system to a fully skeletonized gold oscillating weight. It delivers 74 hours of power reserve and displays the hours and minutes. The movement, with cylindrical hairspring that reduces friction and improves isochronism, is a feat of accomplishment from H. Moser & Cie.’s sister company, Precision Engineering AG.
As if the totally open-worked and highly visible movement, with constantly moving tourbillon escapement, were not enough to wow the senses, H. Moser & Cie. showcases the hours and minutes in a small subsidiary dial at 12:00 that is crafted in a domed translucent blue synthetic spinel. The color is not only a signature color of Alpine Motorsports but also a beloved favorite of H. Moser fans. The dial is devoid of the H. Mosier & Cie. logo — a concept that is not new to the brand. The markers are coated in Super-LumiNova and the hands boast inserts made of Globolight® for perfect night-time legibility. The watch is finished with a blue rubber strap.
The case back of the watch features a transparent sapphire crystal for viewing of the skeletonized rotor and more movement components. It is water resistant to 12 ATM. Just 100 pieces will be made, each retailing for $89,000.
